What are your 2014 goals?

The end-of-the-year and beginning of a new one always brings about a time of personal reflection. Somewhere between the last day of school and New Year’s eve I slow down enough to actually get a chance to look around my overly busy household.

This normally spurs on a purging of some kind and cupboards that hardly ever seen the light of day get emptied, toys get organized and the socks finally find its neighbor.

I’m not sure if it’s the addition of more stuff that suddenly leaves me feeling cluttered and overwhelmed.

I also take a closer look and investigate inside my person to see what I want to improve upon, what I want to change in my life. Not because I made resolutions or created new life goals. Heck, I didn’t even have a plan! I continue to have the best year of my life each year, because I’ve learned to change my habits.

Now, don’t get me wrong. There are plenty of challenges in life I’ve yet to overcome, and every day isn’t always a cake walk so instead of earring myself up for failure with a bunch if in achievable resolutions I’ve made up some “habits”for this year are simple.

*I’m not going to add anything more to my list until I’ve finished what I have already started.

*I’m saying yes more to life. The best way to create new opportunities is to start saying β€œyes” β€” not to everything, but definitely to more things that excite me, even if I’m not sure how I’ll pull it off.

*Play in the sunshine, eat my veggies and exercise. Try new foods and laugh.
Out loud until the tears are streaming down my face and my sides are aching.

*slow down, simplify and clear out the clutter.

*stop sweating the small stuff…because apparently it’s all small stuff. Right?

  1. Great post. I am sure that you can accomplish anything you set your mind to. My biggest goal for the year was to take time for myself. Something I have not done for many years. I look forward to seeing how 2014 turns out for you!
