Orange sunrise

Week one Juicing update:
So far So good…well except for today. I aim to juice a fruit juice and a veggie juice each day.
I’ve noticed that when I grab an afternoon fruit juice my energy level drastically improves.
I’ve dropped 2lbs and my skin is clearing up too.
Awesome eh!

Today Has been a lazy-do-nothin day and I have only made one so I thought I would try another new recipe.

Orange sunrise ingredients:

2 Kiwis
2 oranges
1 Papaya
1 carrot

{ The most noticeable flavor is the Kiwi and you don’t notice the other ingredients}

I even convinced Niffy nuni to give the juicer a whirl.

Now if only I could convince her to drink the juice….

DIY: produce spray

Spray this on your non-organic produce items before you are ready to wash.  Let it sit for 5 minutes or so and then rinse as usual!
Very easy!
To make the spray you simply need the following ingredients:
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup vinegar
  • juice from half of a lemon
  • 1tbs   baking soda
You simply mix those ingredients together in a bowl (note the baking soda will fizz when it mixes with vinegar) and place into a spray bottle.

Breakfast at home with a splash of pineapple-kiwi

Forget fancy hotels with their overly priced breakfast in bed.
I will take breakfast at home in a heartbeat.
Especially when are whipping up a batch of clean eating cottage cheese pancakes and pairing it with a glass of freshly juiced yum.

Recipe #2

1/2 pineapple cut into wedges
3 kiwi
2 oranges
Serves 4

The kids really enjoyed this juice.
Perhaps the colour green from last nights juice set them off?
Who knows.
Two days in and so far I am really enjoying experimenting with both veggie and fruit recipes.
The kids are a little hesitant but I’m sure they will come around.
Maybe I need to find some “kid”friendly recipes that smuggle the “greens” in?

Cucumber fuzz

Is it just me or is everyone going ga-ga for juicing right now? I find myself getting all wrapped up in it too. It might have something to do with the juicer that just arrived in the mail hmmm?

Well perhaps there’s a reason for all the fuss: we need to reset our bodies and I can’t think of a better way to start.

There are lots of websites raving about the importance of “raw foods” and a few of our friends are into juicing so we are going to give it a try and see.
What do we have to lose right?

So, recipe #1

“Cucumber fuzz”

The ingredients:
*4 peaches pitted
*4 celery stalls
*2 cucumber

The juicer:

And me:

Honestly, once you get past the green colour and just try the juice it’s pretty good.

Light and refreshing.

Next time I think I will add less celery because that’s all you can taste.

I’m excited to see how I feel after 30 days juicing.

Will I have more energy?
Will I lose weight?
Clearer skin?

I’m not sure but I’m excited to find out.
Have you tried juicing?
